1. Background

GREAT Nepal Pvt. Ltd, the short form of Group of Engineers for Appropriate Technology-Nepal (former GREAT Nepal consultants) is a service oriented consulting firm, equipped with resourceful professionals representing a broad of spectrum of expertise has been managed by a group of young, dynamic and dedicated Engineers working in different sectors of Research & Development, Water supply and sanitation projects, Infrastructure Technology, Local Ropeway Technology, River Crossing Technology, Gravity Ropeway, Tuins, Ghirlings, Roads and Bridges, Energy and engineering including Micro/Mini hydro power since last 10 years. We have also been pre-qualified by the AEPC/NRREP for the survey, design and installation of the micro hydropower up to 100 kW. We have been performed task with best engineering practices of full satisfaction that opportunity granted to us in various part of country.

2. Introduction

GREAT Nepal legally registered in 2002 with the Department of Industries Nepal Government the company offers a wide range of consulting services and envisages to provide support services in the area of infrastructure technology. The company offers technical consulting services for a multitude of developmental activities such as Planning, Project Management, Socio-economic studies, Feasibility studies, Survey, Design and Cost estimate of Rural Infrastructure Developments basically Alternate Energy and Alternate Transportation.

4. Vision

GREAT Nepalbelieves, Renewable energy technology is the door of development for the creation of employment opportunities to local people. By Making research, investigation, survey, design and cost estimation, installation, construction and supervision of micro hydro, mini hydro, small span appropriate ropeway technology, Gravity Ropeway, River Crossing Technology, water pumping for water supply and irrigation utilizing locally generated electricity to enhance the economic activities of rural people. Moreover, energy is the prime mobilizer of rural development leading to poverty alleviation and drudgery reduction of rural society. 5. Main Objectives or Areas of Works of Company:

 

  • To carry out pre feasibility study, feasibility study, detailed survey, design & cost estimation, supply, installation and supervision on the alternative energy (renewable sources of energy such as micro/mini hydro-electricity, solar, biogas, and wind energy), Alternative Transportation (local ropeway technology, gravity ropeway, mechanized bridge, river crossing technology (Tuin, Ghirling etc) and Infrastructure Technology and other resources and supporting on their appropriate management, modernization and expansion.

 

  • Bringing the local manpower to the mainstream of all round development of the country by providing the awareness to the local human resources for the appropriate technology management and development of renewable energy in the rural areas.

 

  • Making research & investigation of local ropeway technology (Mechanized Bridge, Gravity Ropeway, and Nepali Cable Car), river crossing technology (Multi Span Tuin, Ghirling etc.), study in developing efficient hybrid turbine (micro-francis turbine), water pumping for water supply and irrigation utilizing locally generated electricity.

 

  • Implementation and management of renewable energy resources and benefiting all stakeholders by providing consulting services with quality output within scheduled time.
  • Civil works construction and supervision of innovative works such as modified river crossing technology, efficient gravity ropeway, and micro/mini hydropower projects, with the best engineering practices and quality/ standards.

 

  • Supply and installation of electromechanical equipments of Micro/Mini Hydro Power Projects including transmission & distribution accessories.
