Likhu IV is 120 MW run-of-river hydro electric project along Likhu River and is located around 220 kms from Kathmandu, capital of Nepal. The project has favorable hydrology and is easily accessible. The project is being developed by Green Ventures Pvt. Ltd. (which is a joint venture between Bhilwara Energy Limited and Triveni Group of Nepal).
A consortium comprising GMR Energy Limited, GMR Infrastructure Limited (GIL) and Italian-Thai Development Project Co. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Govt. of Nepal, for developing the 900 MW Upper Karnali Hydro electric Project, in Nepal.The project will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.
Himtal Hydro Power Company Pvt. Ltd. is developing ‘The Upper Marsyangdi-2 Hydroelectric Power’ project. This run-of-river type development is located in the districts of Lamjung and Manang, aiming to fully utilize the power potential of the Marsyangdi river.
Memorandum of Understanding ( MOU ) was signed between Govt. of Nepal and Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited – SJVNL for the execution of 900 MW Arun – III HE Project. Proposed to be located in the Sankhuwasabha Distt. of Nepal which is 657 Km from Kathmandu via Birat Nagar. The Survey license was issued by Govt.
SN Power was awarded the Survey Licenses in March 2007 by the Government of Nepal to develop the Tamakohsi 2 (207 MW) and Tamakoshi 3 (275 MW) Hydroelectric projects in the Tamakoshi River of Dolakha district. Based on a concept study results, SN Power applied for and was awarded an amended license for a single 600 MW daily peaking run-of-river project to be called the Tamakoshi 3 project.
Chilime Hydropower Company Ltd (CHPCL) has obtained Survey License for the study of a medium scale Rasuwagadi Hydroelectric Project of 100 MW installed capacity on July 15, 2008. It is located in Rasuwa district. Bhote Koshi river (Upper reaches of Trishuli river) is the main source river of the project.
With a view to expanding its business in hydropower sector, the CHPCL has embarked on creating new models of its investment with the formation of its subsidiary companies. Sanjen Hydropower Company Limited (SHCL), the first subsidiary company, has been established in 2010 A.D. as a public limited company.
Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has established an autonomous company named Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Limited (UTKHPL) in March 2007 (2063/11/25 B.S.) as an executing agency for the implementation of the Project. There are six full time and two invitee members in the Board of Directors (BoD) at present. Out of six full time members, four members from NEA, one from Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and one from Nepal Telecom (NTC) are representing in the BoD. Similarly, representatives of Citizen Investment Trust (CIT) and Rastriya Beema Sansthan (RBS) are also in the BoD as invitee members.
ergy co. pvt ltd has started the construction of Thapa Khola hydro electric project at Tukuche village of Mustang District in western development region of Nepal. Thapa Khola Hydropower Project is a run of river type project with an installed capacity of 11,200 kW. The general layout of the proposed project comprises of a diversion weir with a gated undersluice, side intake, Gravel trap, Settling basin, Headpond ,Headrace pipe, Tunnel, Surge tank, Surface penstock and a Surface powerhouse located on right bank of Thapa Khola in Tukuche village of Mustang District.
The feasibility study of Mai Hydropower Project (MHP) was undertaken by Sanima Hydropower (P.) Ltd. Initially, in June 2006, MHP was proposed as a daily peaking run of river project with installed capacity of 20.1 MW. After discussion with Nepal Electricity Authority(NEA), the daily peaking option was abandoned (as recommended by NEA, the government’s power utility to purchase power from the Project) and an optimum simple run-of river scheme with installed capacity of 14.5 MW was technically concluded with NEA in year 2007 with the energy price open for negotiation.
Ambeshwar Engineering Hydropower Pvt. Ltd (AEHPL), a company registered under the Government of Nepal Act 2063 is set upping 180 MW Kaligandaki Koban Hydroelectric Project in Mustang District, Nepal. The project would affect Koban, Kunjo and Lete VDCs of the district. The project at a distance of 125 km from Pokhara would be built on the Kali Gandaki River. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 40 billion.
Middle Modi Hydroelectric Project (MMHP) is located about 40 km north-west of Pokhara in Kaski and Parbat Districts, Gandaki Zone of Western Development. The project lies in the Bhuktangle, Deupur and Tilhar VDCs of Parbat District and Salyan and Lumle VDCs of Kaski District. The headworks is located at Birethanti village. At present there is about 1.5km long earthen road access to the headworks area from Nayapul bazaar which is the nearest point with all year road access along the Pokhara – Baglung highway.
Super Madi Hydroelectric Project is located in Kaski Districts, Gandaki Zone of Western Development Region of Nepal. The project lies in the Namarjun and Parche Village Development Committees of Kaski District. The headworks is located at the foothill of Sikles village and the powerhouse is located just opposite of Sodha village. The project lies about 23 km north-east of Pokhara. At present there is about 16km long earthen road access towards the project from Pokhara City.
